Mona

Huffington Post actually said this band just might save Rock and Roll. Mona got their start in Ohio and Kentucky but soon after, the band moved to Nashville, which continues to be their home.

The band is: Nick Brown  singer, guitar and keyboard player.  Vince Gard plays drums, Zach Lindsey jams the bass, and Jordan Young plays guitar. The recent interviewed by HuffPost, took place right before they hit the stage to open for Silversun Pickups. When the band was asked which genre their music would fall into, they really didn't like the idea of being labeled  as one thing or another. And when they finally did attach themselves to a genre, it was Rock and Roll, plain and simple. That's my kind of attitude! They are just who they are; a band, that loves music, and who can rock it out! As Nick Brown said, "I think there was a time (in the past)  when there was a clear vision. People wanted to do something, people caught on and it was what it was. And they didn't call it like 'Gee, what is the new Ramones album sound like'. It was just the (bleeping) Ramones!" Oh how true that is! There really are too  many "genre labels"  for music, which is  a shame because sometimes that boxes an artist in to being something that they didn't intend to be.

We have to say we are very impressed with Mona, and we agree, that this is the start of something big for them. We like the music, the lyrics, the singer's voice, and the feel and  element of the actual video itself. We give Mona a Rock It! score. Their new album "Torches and Pitchforks" is available for download via iTunes and Amazon. Now check out their new video "Goons (Baby, I Need It All)". We added the lyrics below,  to make it even better! Enjoy!

I was on the sea, see you standing in line just to be there
You’re looking at me,
Something bout the way I do my thang, thang
I’m getting under your skin and you know
It’s something I could think about
You’re just, like the wind when you blow
But baby I need it all, I need it all

In sin city with me
You don’t care bout the who, when, where, how
You’re so free, tell me what to get
What’s your name, name?

I’m getting under your skin and you know

It’s something I could think about
You’re just, like the wind when you blow
But baby I need it all, I need it all
I’m getting under your skin and you know
It’s something I could think about
You’re just, like the wind when you blow
But baby I need it all, I need it all
I need it all, I need it all
I got you under my skin you know
Baby I need it all

[Guitar solo]

I want you more than I know I said
Baby I need it all
I want you more than I know I said
Baby I need it all
I want you more than I know I said
Baby I need it all
I want you more than I know I said
Baby I need it all
